In 1879 a successful cotton merchant, Cristoforo Benigno, built the Villa in authentic middle eastern style with an unusual feature, its very own minaret inspired by the fascinating splendor of Baghdad’s architecture.

During the 1930’s literary figures, captains of industry and royals were frequent visitors of the villa. The Italian King at that time, Umberto of Savoy, was in fact a regular guest here.
After a period as a place of spiritual retreat, the Villa was converted at the end of the 1980’s into an exclusive hotel where nature, art and history entwine leaving guests with lifelong memories of their stay.
