Masseria Moon
The Masseria Moon was built in the XVI century. It is located in short distance from the main airports of Brindisi and Bari.
It is surrounded by an extended estate overlooking the sea with many olive groves, over 800 years old, almond trees and carob trees. This tower, once used to be part of a line of defense of towers watching the invading Saracens, has been completely restored and transformed into a 5-star luxury country house.
The original chapel from 1730 is located in the main courtyard, it stills holding mass and is often used as pilgrimage destination for the fishermen living in the little coastal village of Savelletri.
Next to the courtyard we find the “ortus conclusus” a big vegetable garden surrounded by fortified walls and watered by an ancient, ingenious stone channels system, using gravity force.
The old pigeon tower is located on the terrace. This was used to send messages during the wars.
A stunning olive mill, dating back to year 1000, occupies great part of the huge caves which has been also a shelter for the farmhouse sheep. Part of the cave has now been transformed into a wonderful wellness path.
